Just completed Day 2 of Holiday Club (Vacation Bible School). This was our first full day being with the age groups as a team. A typical Holiday Club includes a lot of the same VBS culture we share in the States: Large group, singing, interaction, Bible story, snack, recreation, crafts. Perhaps one of the biggest difference is the children ask “The Americans” why we talk funny and how to get to where we live.
British accents make all the children seem so much more adorable and polite.
Instead of Kool-Aid, typical Holiday Club drink is orange or black currant squash (juice concentrate). Instead of gold fish crackers, snack is biscuit (a cookie).
It is very lovely being surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ whose gift is hospitality. Church members have taken turns welcoming us into their homes for lunch and dinner. Every interaction has been fantastic.
All of our host families are incredibly kind, loving and amazing.
Spent the afternoon hanging out with youth at Wye Downs… lovely, rolling hills outside of Ashford.
We are all gearing up for Friday’s Relay community event. Ashford is having a bit of a heat wave (sunny, high of mid 70s) and are praying that the possible rainy forecast does not intrude on festivities. Events will include face painting, crafts, music, food, bungee run and interactive games.
We are planning for 500 to join us at this park!
How can you pray? Please continue praying for the dear, sweet children at Holiday Club… that they may know life having Jesus as their superhero and being on His team. Also pray for community festival– that it will be a time to engage, cooperate and build a community of belonging.
Thanks for all that you do! Be blessed!
