Today was very long for our 35 intrepid singers and chaperones. Everyone reported to the airport at 5 AM to begin our journey to Calgary. Our connecting flight from Houston was delayed for over two hours. This delay caused a domino of events that were beyond our control. Thanks to wifi and and amazing support staff back in SA (Barbie Gerloff) we were able to coordinate the ever-changing schedule. Our lunch plans were altered, and we soon discovered that the vans that we had reserved were not available. The company realized their mistake and got us rolling, but not without further delay.
Our goal for today was to drive from the airport to Drumheller to see the Canadain Badlands Passion Play. Due to our delay we were only able to see a portion of it, but it was such a beautiful reminder of why we are here. Every time I see or read the story of Christ’s passion, I am reminded that he was thinking of me, of us as he was enduring the cross. That’s all the motivation we need. The students were very grateful for that reminder, even though the day was beginning to catch up with them.
All week leading up to this tour I have been praying that God would provide sunshine while we are here. The forecast is grim. We drove through some heavy rain to reach the Passion Play, but it was dry until the very end, and then it rained. Not exactly what I prayed, but exactly what I needed. God provides.
We then had pizza at a local Baptist church. Their pastor opened the doors to us, bought the kids water and cookies and showed some wonderful hospitality. It was a simple and beautiful gesture. Kristie Lane gave a devotional based on the book “In Case You Ever Wonder.”
Back to Calgary, Checked into our dorm rooms. Tired kids. Early day tomorrow.
Aaron, thank you for the update. We continue to hold you all up in our prayers.
Praying for sunshine and equipping should it rain.
Aaron. God really kissed us on both cheeks when He brought you and your sweet family to FBCSA. Thank you for all you’re doing!!❤️❤️????????
